May - June 2015
Floods and Storms!!
Rain and storms during the month of May 2015 caused massive flooding and Lake Texoma crested at 645.72 feet. Many issues area wide with roads and homes having flood damage. Spillway at the Lake went over for the third time in the lake's history.
On June 21, 2015, Father's Day, when the Preston Bend Association was scheduled to have its annual meeting another storm came through the area. Another 4+ inches of rain fell and we were forced to cancel the meeting. One of our members stated that this was only the second time in our history that we have canceled. The other time was in the 1950s.

In 2015, Virginia Lindsey Thompson, Cynthia Lindsey Thomas, Teresa Lindsey Manning, and Diane Helm Smith became members of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Patriot is Andrew Buchanan and Aaron Smith. Lineage is through Dan Coleman Helm, buried at Preston Cemetery and grandfather of Virginia, Teresa, Cynthia, and Diane.

In 2017, Jonell Lang Helm became a member of the DAR and her patriot is George Mozingo. Her connection to Preston is through marriage and the Helm family.

Sophie Porter Memorial Dedication.

In December of 2017 the Sons and Daughters of the Confederate Veterans held a memorial dedication for Sophie Porter at Preston Bend Cemetery.
